& Management

PROGRAM

Management

Your team will have a primary single point of contact to manage and maintain open lines of communication relating to all aspects of the product launch providing you with an accurate view of progress to plan and ultimately reducing project risk factors.

Our product launch team will insure that the highest Industry Standards and Customer Specific Requirements are consistently met and will launch your product with Advanced Product Quality Planning beginning as early as the quote and / or concept phase. PRODUCT DESIGN

& Development

At Sun Microstamping Technologies we welcome the opportunity to provide Design Input based on our experience with Material Options, Design For Manufacturability, Design For Functionality and Cost Saving Opportunities. In many cases we have worked with customers to eliminate entire production processes such as Welding, Soldering, and various Assembly Operations through minimal product or process changes. Through the Process of Concept Initiation, Development and Approval the team will clearly determine and define customer and project requirements.



DFMEA PFMEA

With our extensive experience in supplying the Automotive Industry we can help Design Products and Processes for Manufacturability while reducing overall cost, time and risk factors through selection of Effective Materials, Advanced Production Processes and Component Design Input. As a disciplined practice each component will undergo the DFMEA / PFMEA Process. Through this exercise the team will define potential failure modes of the product and process Design. With up-front analysis and planning, product and process changes are implemented “before the build” resulting in reduction of Engineering Changes, Product/Process Failure Modes, Project Timing and Cost.



PRODUCTION PART APPROVAL PROCESS

(PPAP)

Sun Microstamping Technologies utilizes the AIAG Production Part Approval Process to ensure all requirements are documented, understood, and reliably implemented. As a component of the PPAP SUN is registered with the International Material Data System (IMDS) and we maintain all materials and components for submission to our customers when required. With particular focus on customer requirements and the FMEA our APQP team will define and document the total product plan. During the APQP process the team will prepare a “Job Program” for each independent production process, which includes the Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, Inspection Plan, Product Print and any Other Project Specific Documentation pertinent to the product. Upon completion of a New Tool Build or Transfer of a Tool SUN will complete a Production Trial Run (PTR) where all inputs and outputs of the Production Process are verified utilizing each of the 18 elements of the PPAP Process. Through the standardized use of this process our customers receive reliable delivery and service as well as reduced product variation.


PRODUCTION APPROVAL AND RAMP-UP

Production Part Approval is achieved through documented evidence of conformance to all customer, Industry and quality system requirements. While the APQP and PPAP Processes provide extensive up-front analysis, planning, and proactive measures to reduce product variation and opportunities for error they cannot always guarantee that a defective part will never be made. In order to further validate that the process is stable and will remain stable over time SUN executes a Safe Launch Plan (SLP). The Safe Launch Plan is an increase in Product and Process Inspections designed to identify and isolate concerns within the product or process. The Safe Launch Plan is successfully completed upon 30 – 90 days with Zero Defects.


MASS PRODUCTION & CUSTOMER SERVICE

Following successful completion of the APQP, PPAP and SLP Processes each product is assigned a Product Manager who is the primary point of contact. The Product Manager works with each customer to Coordinate Production and Delivery Schedules, VA/VE Cost Reduction Activities and any other needs that may arise. SUN accepts all forms of customer schedule transmissions including EDI and other Electronic Delivery Scheduling Systems. Our team will continue to work proactively throughout the Production Life Cycle to improve Value, Technology, and Cost.

Through the strong commitment and support of our Management Team we have developed our Processes to adjust, adapt and overcome Industry and project specific challenges while maintaining strict adherence to AIAG Standards, TS16949 Quality System Standards, and Customer Specific Requirements.

Material Selection

Sun Microstamping Technologies has extensive experience with all types of Materials for both Metal Stamping and Injection Molding. We regularly assist our customers with Material Selection for functionality and cost effectiveness. Whether it is Precious Metal Alloys, Copper Alloys, Magnetic Alloys, Ferrous Alloys, Precious and Non-Precious Plating or Engineered Thermoplastic Resins the SUN Engineering staff will provide support to identify the Optimal Material for your application.



LASER / RESISTANCE

Welding

Sun Microstamping Technologies has extensive Welding Capabilities. For years we have supported the Switch & Relay Industries with High Quality Welded Contacts. Other Welded Assembly Operations we perform are for Electronic Components or simply Mechanical attachment. We weld all types of Materials with a variety of Welding Processes. Round Wire, Braze Backed Contact Tape, Profiled Tape and Contact Buttons are all Materials that SUN regularly welds. The latest technology in Resistance, Laser, and High Frequency Welding equipment are available.



FINISHED COMPONENT

Testing

After Assembly or Insert Molding Operations Testing is required; SUN has developed numerous Physical and Electrical Testing Operations that check 100% of the product produced and verify that no nonconforming product is passed on to the next operation or our customers. Our extensive expertise in Automation and Special Equipment ensures that your parts are produced as efficiently and reliably as possible.



QUALITY

Inspection

Sun Microstamping Technologies utilizes state-of-the-art video measurement systems (X, Y & Z axis, programmable, motorized Smartscopes), coordinate measurement machines (CMM), optical comparators and a complete array of hand measurement equipment available in quality laboratories in each of our divisions. Additionally Sun has the capability to perform force testing, texture analysis, hardness testing, contour analysis and has significant custom gage and fixture design experience.
 
All of our inspection equipment is utilized by highly trained quality inspectors and technicians who perform start-up approvals at the beginning of each production run, in-process and final inspections as outlined on agreed upon control plans and inspection specification sheets.

ASSEMBLEY, AUTOMATION & ROBOTICS

Sun Microstamping Technologies Designs and Builds Assembly Automation using Rotary and Walking-Beam construction machinery; This allows for the integration of Metal Stamping, Plastic Insert Molding and Automated packing systems that results in lower part prices. By customizing the machines, we offer customers unique solutions, cost savings and increased quality.

SUN has developed several Workstations using Robotics allowing the Metal Inserts to be placed in the mold using robotics. Robots can Reduce Cost, Eliminate Defects and Reduce Waste, allowing us to provide our customer high out-put support with Zero Defects.
